Piyash was killed due to a dispute over a phone worth Tk 4,000
RAB has arrested one of the main three accused involved in the brutal stabbing death of Piyash Iqbal Noor, a student of Kabi Nazrul Government College in North Mugda of the capital.
Arrested 3 people are: Md. Khalid Hasan (18), Md. Arif Hossain (21) and Md. Mehdi Hasan Miraj (20). At that time, the blood-stained knife used in the murder was recovered from them.
According to RAB, Piyash Iqbal Noor and Shamim Hossain, students of Kabi Nazrul Government College, were brutally stabbed in a dispute over payment for the sale of an old mobile phone.
RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin gave this information at a press conference organized at the RAB Media Center in the capital on Monday, March 11.
During the initial interrogation of the arrested 3 people, they said that the main accused in the murder case, Amir Uddin Ahmed Anik, was involved in the business of buying and selling stolen mobile phones. On February 18, Mahir, a friend of the deceased Piyash, bought a stolen mobile phone from Anik for Tk 4,300. The purchased mobile money was supposed to be paid by 25th February but Mahir could not pay it due to financial problems. Anik became angry with him for not paying the money on time and threatened to kill her several times. Later, on the evening of March 7, Anik went to Mahir's house with the arrested Khalid, Arif, Miraj and Arnab and Rabbi, the accused involved in the murder, to collect the remaining money from the sale of the mobile phone.
Moin said that Piyash Iqbal Noor and Shamim Hossain, students of Kabi Nazrul Government College, were brutally stabbed in a dispute over the payment of money for the sale of an old mobile phone in North Mugda area of the capital on the night of March 7. Later, local people rescued them in serious condition and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared Piyash dead.
The day after the incident, the father of the deceased Piyash filed a murder case in Mugda police station accusing 6 persons and mentioning some unknown persons.
